Job Opening for Service Accompanist

Job Description

      • Play for 10:00 a.m. services on Sundays; 3-4 Sundays per month. Services include 3-4 minute Prelude, hymns and responses for service chosen by weekly worship leader, incidental music during offering, 3-4 minute Postlude.
      • Independently select and play appropriate music for prelude, offertory, and postlude for each service. This is almost always the musician’s choice and may be any type of music that helps set the tone and feel of the service. UUFD has used a variety of music in the past and is open to not only classical, but folk, popular, jazz, blues, or any tradition that lends itself to the theme and feel of the service.  In some cases, the Worship Arts Committee or weekly worship leader may have some suggested music which the accompanist may elect to use or not.
      • Communicate with weekly worship leader regarding service music requirements and hymn selections.
      • One service a month may be allocated to a congregational musician willing to play the service.


      • Formal music training
      • Experience as an accompanist
      • High proficiency in piano; ability to sight read music, set tempo and give a clear melodyAn organized professional who is both punctual and flexible
      • Strong communication skills
      • Joy in music
