Meditation Retreat

 

 

The UUFD Buddhist Study Group invites you to a half-day Meditation Retreat at UUFD on the morning of Saturday, March 23. Starting at 9 a.m., we will practice sitting and walking meditation and watch a video dharma talk about Ajahn Chah. The meditation sessions will be followed by a potluck lunch at noon. The retreat is open to all UUFD members and friends and no registration is needed, so please join us! Send questions to Virginia at vlw@niu.edu. See the following schedule for details:

Retreat schedule:

8:30—9:00 Welcome and Introduction
Please take a seat in the Sanctuary by 9 a.m.
9:00—9:30 Sitting meditation (Sanctuary)
9:30---10:00 Walking meditation (outdoors, if possible)
10:00—10:30 Silent snack (Fellowship Hall)
10:30—11:15 Ajahn Chah video and dharma talk (Sanctuary)
11:15—noon Discussion of dharma talk (Sanctuary)
Noon—12:30 Sitting meditation (Sanctuary)
12:30---1:30 Potluck meal (Fellowship Hall)
1:30---2:00 Clean up

Notes:
*Participants remain silent during the period from 9 a.m. to 12:30, except during the discussion following the dharma talk.

*Meditation, dharma talk, and discussion in the Sanctuary: For sitting meditation sessions, participants can sit on mats and pillows if they wish to bring them or can sit on chairs. Walking meditation may be outside in the next door park.
