Gladys Sanchez

Religious Education Director
LFD Co-Chair
Lifespan Faith Development

Born in the Philippines and raised in Oak Park, IL since she was 7,  Gladys Sanchez  came to the DeKalb area to attend college, earning an Associate’s Degree from Kishwaukee College in special education and continuing her studies at Northern Illinois University in the same field. Since the young age of 11 when she became a published poet, Gladys has achieved numerous artistic, academic, and leadership awards and distinctions throughout her creative and spiritual path.

Gladys joined the UUFD community in 2012, immediately  throwing her energy into our Lifespan Faith Development Ministry, enrolling her young son in our children's religious education program, and volunteering to lead and assist with our children's classes. Her educational and leadership skills quickly becoming apparent, the UUFD Board of Trustees hired her as our Director of Religious Education in January, 2014.  In addition to her distinguished academic background in education, she brings to our program an inexhaustible work ethic, commitment to social justice issues, great enthusiasm, curiosity, wonder, and a love of children.
