Dekalb-area Organizations We Actively Support

 DeKalb County Community Gardens is a local organization of committed volunteers who work to build a healthier and more sustainable community. Their main objective is to provide access to fresh, wholesome food sources by facilitating school and neighborhood gardens in our area.

 DeKalb Interfaith Network for Peace and Justice utilizes a three-pronged approach in carrying out its goal of educating its members and the community on a variety of peace and justice issues: education, action, and income.

 George Gurler House, built in 1857, is a historical place, historical museum, and community center.

 Hope Haven provides shelter, meals, and life-skills programs for homeless individuals and families while preparing them for re-housing. Hope Haven will advocate for the rights of the homeless, and those at risk for becoming homeless, while working in collaboration with others to end homelessness in DeKalb County.

 Parents, Family, and Friends of Gays and Lesbians (PFLAG) of Northern Illinois PFLAGpromotes the well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through support, education and advocacy.

 Safe Passage Domestic Violence Shelter strives to reduce or prevent domestic violence and sexual assault in DeKalb County by providing a wide range of services to victims of domestic and sexual violence.

 Teach Girls Global is committed to increasing awareness of the importance of the education of women and girls globally. The goal of Teach Girls Global is to improve how we target our charitable contributions and donations to better support women and girls' education in developing countries around the world.

 Voluntary Action Center provides means and transportation for DeKalb County residents.

 Welcome Café and Community Kitchen provides a monthly community brunch and informational seminar at UUFD. 

 Welcoming Western Counties Solidarity and Sanctuary Coalition is a network of individuals, faith communities & community organizations committed to increasing solidarity & sanctuary for DeKalb and surrounding counties.

 WNIU/WNIJ is the broadcasting service of Northern Illinois University for National Public Radio featuring news, intelligent talk, music, and entertainment to enrich, inspire, and inform.

 Youth Outlook is the only agency in the DuPage, Kane, and DeKalb counties of Illinois dedicated solely to serving LGBTQ youth. In order to accomplish its mission, Youth Outlook provides wellness education, leadership development, and social space. They also conduct community education programs in order to change the social atmosphere that imperils LGBTQ youth in the first place.
