Our Dessert Auction:

Don’t miss the dessert auction at this year’s Gala!  The infamous and talented Jeanne Meyer will auction off an assortment of fancy delights to tickle your palate… mouth-watering apple pie, delectable cream puffs, and scrumptious cheesecake, as well as vegan cookies and cupcakes, homemade caramels, and a fruit plate with Nutella.  This year we are adding a new twist: the auction will be held immediately following dinner so that the successful bidders can share their winnings with everyone drooling at their table.  We call it “Creating Community through Dessert”!

Music by Dan Becker and the Tourists:

Singer/Songwriter Dan Becker formed the Tourists as a vehicle for his stories in song that chronicle small town life. Dan draws on styles as diverse as the characters that inhabit the songs. The band's musical undercurrent remains folk rock (as in Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Byrds, and James Taylor), but it also grooves (ala Little Feat), flows and jams. Other influences are Steely Dan, The Eagles, Beatles, and Crosby, Stills, & Nash. The band often performs as a quartet (vocal harmonies with lead guitar, second guitar, bass, and drums), sometimes adding keyboards and additional percussion. They have performed in Chicago (Red Line Tap, Wise Fool’s Pub, Elbo Room), in Aurora (Garfield Park, Prisco’s Next Door), Batavia (Four Beans Coffeehouse), and DeKalb (Otto’s). The band’s CD “We’re Not From Around Here We’re Just Tourists” and tunes are available from CDBaby or Amazon.
